4 Ways to add your Theme to your Wedding Sweet Treats
Hello!
Charlotte here!
Food is awesome, but depending on your wedding venue you can be a bit constrained by the food if the venue has preferred suppliers. So if you have a wedding theme, you might not be able to customise your food to your theme, so how best to add your theme? Why not via cake and other sweet treats!
The pictures I am using to demonstrate the way you can use these sweet treats is from a recent wedding I was fortunate enough to coordinate at Compton Acres in Dorset. It was a wedding organised by Gift of a Wedding, an amazing charity that gives a wedding or a vow renewal to those with a life shortening or terminal illness. All the suppliers gave their time and resources for free and I worked alongside some amazing suppliers on the day! One of the key motifs that the bride loved was bats and we fully embraced this theme, particularly for the sweet treats! So here are four ways the bat theme was integrated:
Cookies
I mean - who doesn’t love cookies! We went full bat with these! The photo doesn’t quite show, but the couple’s initials were also indented into the black icing. They looked great throughout the day (due to COVID we had to keep them in their plastic packaging) and you could see them from far away due to their distinctive shape.
Fudge
Fudge makes an excellent favour (we know I’m not a fan of favours, unless they are edible but I loved these). They looked awesome in their bat themed packaging and the different colours of fudge really stood out.
Wedding Cake
Wedding cakes do make a statement and this cake was a three tiered stunner! The cake used the black and burgundy theme colours and bats decorate the bow tie and pocket square, a subtle but lovely touch.
Cupcakes
If you don’t want a large wedding cake or something smaller throughout the day to soak up the alcohol, cupcakes are a great option and can be easily customised. I loved how the cupcakes used the colours and well as the bats on the top (cars were the other topping, another little motif used throughout the wedding.) For this wedding as we had a lot of sweet treats on the table we gave out the cupcakes at the drinks reception, they paired well with the fizz!
Have you used sweets or cakes as part of your wedding theme? What do you think of the treats guests could eat at this wedding?
