5 Budget Tips for Styling an Affordable Wedding Table

Hello!

Charlotte here!

So when you are styling/designing your wedding, decorating the tables can be the best or the most difficult part. I know that for me and my own wedding I wanted something distinctive but that also didn’t cost the earth. Even if you have a few elements to decorate your tables, the more tables you have the more the cost will rise. So I have put below a few ideas based on a wedding shoot I recently planned to give you some potential inspiration!

1. If you are hiring crockery, cutlery and glassware keep it simple. Don’t go overboard, you do not need 20 types of plate and 4 different glasses on the table. A simple plate with a side plate and a further bowl or plate for dessert is absolutely fine. One glass and a champagne flute (if you are doing a toast) is all good, whilst one set of cutlery is more than enough (with a small extra fork for starter and a larger spoon for dessert if you wanted).

2. Utilise features from elsewhere. So if there are any extra little spriggs or petals from your florist or a small few extra fairy lights that aren’t needed elsewhere, you can use these on your tables. For example using foliage behind your menu cards like below.

3. Simple is sometimes better. Lets face it, unless you are going all out, it is unlikely your guests will remember what was on the table at your wedding (sad but true!) so you can always spend money elsewhere.

4. Not everything has to go on the table. Instead of having a large floral or structural display centerpiece on your tables, put something behind, in your photos it will look amazing and your guests will be able to look around as well as at each other. A large floral display or pedestal, your cake or even a doughnut wall.

5. Keep any displays low. Adding height costs money whether that be larger centerpieces (often they can be a tad impractical as guests can’t see over the table) and they add an element of risk of being knocked or disturbed when people sit down or move around them.

I hope that helps! I have put a list of everyone who was involved in this shoot below as well should you want to check them out!
