5 Different ways to save money on your wedding
Hello!
Charlotte here!
There are a lot of ways to save money on your wedding and there are LOADS of blog posts out there but some of these are a bit different, a bit more practical, or a slightly different take!
Lessen the amount of flowers: flowers are amazing but they are expensive and if you are having a sustainable wedding, also not ideal. So go small, only go with elements you really want: perhaps bride bouquet, boutonnieres, bridesmaids. Keep it small and simple (ie. with bridesmaids flowers go with 3 larger flowers like sunflowers: smaller cost, bigger impact) and of course get flowers that are in season! Centerpieces and other elements can come in other ways, such as lighting or personal pieces like books or LEGO
Sell on as much as you can afterwards: Facebook groups are amazing and sometimes your suppliers might be interested in taking some of it on depending on their business
Small entertaining elements that keep people occupied: board games on the tables, lawn games, photo ‘moments’ throughout the venue space are all examples of this. Couples are often concerned their guests will be bored, but small and inexpensive little elements that don’t touch too much sometimes works out cheaper instead of large entertaining elements
Newer suppliers: So it is a risk to hire slightly newer suppliers of course, but they tend to be cheaper, offer more options and have fewer couples (so their turnaround for example might be quicker or give you more time). On many occasions, newer suppliers have the experience it is just that they don’t have the portfolio so could be a good option
Unusual venues: Here are some venues that might be slightly cheaper for you to hire out: your friend’s/family back garden, historical building, art galleries, village halls, zoos, pubs and/ or the pub gardens, country gardens, general municipal parks (especially in the summer)
It does go without saying though, the best way to save money is to cut your guest list! I will give you an example, we saved just over £800 for my own wedding going from 84 guests to 67!
